About me

Dr Charlotte Paterson, MBChB, PhD, MBAcC.

I have a first class honours degree in acupuncture from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading  and I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council  (MBAcC). Previously, I worked for 25 years as a conventional medical doctor (general practitioner) and I am also an experienced researcher. This is a solid basis for safe, expert acupuncture practice.

My research into acupuncture includes a randomised controlled trial (RCT) of acupuncture for people with medically unexplained symptoms. This provides evidence of acupuncture benefiting them both physically and emotionally, and also increasing their understanding and self-care abilities.

I am passionate about reducing inequality in health care. I offer a sliding scale of charges for people on low income and I donate 30% of my acupuncture fees to charity. I currently support Child Poverty Action Group, Bristol Refugee Rights, Avon and Bristol Law Centre, and Womens Aid.
